The second sutra of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras focuses on chitt vritti, the constantly changing field of perception, and the yog-state, which is the consciousness of Oneness or unity. Shikhaa brings to light the tendency to control thoughts and experiences, revealing how this impulse is rooted in fear and ego-identification. She brings the empowering understanding that when the churning of the mind is accompanied by the knowledge of Oneness, it can serve to unveil one’s true nature.
Using the example of Marion, who was facing the final phase of her life, the satsang examines how the breakdown of the body challenges ego-identification – the belief that lasting security, fulfilment, or control can be found in the world of experience.
Central to Patanjali’s teaching is nirodh, often translated as the control or cessation of the mind. Shikhaa presents nirodha as the power through which vairagya unfolds, the discernment that all perceptions are known only because of the presence of the Knower, and that this Knower is One. The teaching culminates in the wisdom to give importance to the Knower, allowing the mind to assume its rightful place as a subordinate tool. 07.05.2026
 
Yog: Oneness, unity state of Consciousness, without beginning or end
Chit Vritti: The whirlpool of the human experience and modifications of the mind through which the world is perceived.
Nirodh: The source of vritti, ever-present Knower, the state which unfolds from meditation
Vyuthaan vritti:  The outward leaning perception that creates one’s world
Avidya: Forgetfulness of the source, one’s true nature
Asmita: The sense of individuality and feeling of “I am this separate me.”
Raag / Dwash: Attraction / Aversion
Vairaagya: Disillusionment due to realisation that there is no lasting fulfillment that can be found in the world of experiences, giving rise to the turning to the source - eternal, blissful true Self.
