Bhagavad Gita Weekend Retreat
From Arjun's Enquiry to Krishna Consciousness

11–13 December 2026
Strathean Retreat Centre, 212 Old Hautere Rd. Te Horo

Join Shikhaa and Mayank for a weekend immersed in the profound teachings of the Bhagavad Gita.

Rather than simply learning more about the Bhagavad Gita, the weekend is an opportunity to ask: How do I live this knowledge?

The Enquiry of the Gita

The Gita begins with Arjun overwhelmed by fear, doubt, attachment and confusion. His predicament reveals something deeply familiar in the human experience: the struggle that arises when we identify ourselves as a separate person, bound by the mind, our relationships, our actions and their results, and ultimately by the fear of death.

Through Krishna’s teaching to Arjun, the Gita opens an entirely different vision. Who am I in truth? Who is the doer of action? What is to be renounced? How can I act fully in life without becoming bound by action? What is the relationship between the changing forms of life and the eternal, formless Self? How do I meet fear, uncertainty and changing circumstances without losing the knowledge of the Self? And how does meditation transform this knowledge from something we understand into something directly known?

Living the Knowledge

This weekend retreat will continue the study begun through the 2025 and 2026 Bhagavad Gita online courses, bringing these teachings beyond intellectual understanding and into direct examination. Shikhaa will guide us to relate the knowledge of the Gita to the situations, relationships, decisions and challenges of our own lives.

This retreat will explore the transformation from Arjun consciousness to Krishna consciousness: from the doubtful, fearful and struggling sense of individuality to the knowledge of the Self as eternal, unborn, undying, indivisible, all-permeating, pure and free.

Prerequisite

This retreat is for those who have completed at least one of Shikhaa’s Bhagavad Gita online courses from 2025 or 2026. The prerequisite gives us the opportunity to begin the weekend with a shared foundation in the teachings and to take the enquiry further rather than beginning again with an introduction to the Gita.

If you have not previously attended one of the courses, both the 2025 and 2026 Bhagavad Gita Courses are available to purchase online through The Wisdom Library, and can be completed before the December retreat.
